What’s it all about?
Hello! We are Adrian Hadad and Emily Hill, both 29 at the time of writing – although Adrian will be entering the dreaded 30s within days of this blog being launched (ha ha!). In September 2011 we’ll be embarking upon an awesome round-the-world trip – our first period of extensive travelling together since we started going out in 2005. Friends and family have described the idea as “wonderful”, “insane”, “brave”, “inspiring” amongst many other colourful and contradictory adjectives.
We’ll be visiting a mix of well-travelled routes (Australian East Coast anyone?) and some rather more unusual destinations, such as South Korea and Patagonia. Given that Emily is technically a professional blog writer (notice the blatant plug there?!) we couldn’t set out on a trip such as this and not blog about it. In fact, we’re going to be blogging at least a little bit before we head off, as we’d love to hear ideas for interesting places to visit and things to do.
As far as our travelling experience goes, we’ve both been lucky enough to spend time in some truly incredible places. Adrian has lived in Amsterdam and also in India, although the latter ended in a rather dramatic fashion with his evacuation to a UK hospital where he was diagnosed with typhoid fever! Emily has so far avoided any near-death experiences, unless you count almost being trampled to death by a yak on the trail to Everest Base Camp. Whilst avoiding the gym like the plague when at home, Emily has something of a penchant for physical adventures when overseas and has undertaken several long-distance cycling challenges, and has recently been mountain biking in Vietnam.
This blog is mainly going to be aimed at our family and friends but if you have found it randomly, please do stick around: We welcome all comments and suggestions of interesting places for us to visit, and we hope you enjoy reading our blog!
Happy travelling one and all!
